UCLA Global Buddies Program

Hello my name is Briana Lanktree and I am 12
years old. I want to share with you an exciting event that happened in my
life. Last year when I was in the fifth grade at Torrance Elementary
School, I was selected by the UCLA Global Center for Children and
Families to represent the United States as an exchange student to South
Africa. UCLA founded the Global Center for Children and Families after
studies found that a child needs to develop their global awareness at a
very early age. The vision of The Global Buddies program is to build a
worldwide community of children and families dedicated to creating a
healthy environment and a world where all people have the opportunity to
grow and learn. It was an exciting opportunity for me to learn about
being a global citizen and I participated in many community service
projects. It was wonderful to be a part of creating positive change in
the lives of others!
